Blogging
Being a first time blogger, I am still amazed by the large audience that is able to be reached through blogging. I have always heard about blogging, however I was never introduced to blogging until this year/school semester for my journalism 150 class. With my fields of interest (journalism, and meteorology) blogging could come in handy in the journalism field. For journalism, blogging is a way to get your writing noticed/published on a national level. Blogging is a more interactive way to do journalism. Instead of just writing stories for people to read, blogging lets journalists write stories (or thoughts/opinions) and have an audience respond. In addition to this, the hyperlinks within the blog post let the writer/journalist build credibility, while letting the reader decided whether or not they think the source is credible.
A Good blog example is http://rodbien.blogspot.com/?expref=next-blog
I think this blog is good for numerous reasons. First the writing is very personal, and allows the reader to become very interested in the information being talked about. In addition to this, the blogger provided hypertext for topics that might need further explanation. Lastly, the blogger provided pictures, as well as commented on comments made by others. This makes the blog more conversational, which i think is important in a blog.
A Bad Blog example is http://mandarianne.blogspot.com/
I didn’t like this blog because there was not much text, and the text that was provided was more like captions for the photos provided. This blog was not conversational, and didn’t try to include the audience. It was more like a portfolio for pictures the blogger had taken.
My goal with blogging is to create a more conversational, fun blog. I want to know how others are responding to things that i have written about.
So I sign off asking you: What would you suggest to make my blog a good blog? what do you guy think makes a good blog?
